Few brands have successfully transformed themselves from being a shoe-only maison to one that includes an extensive range of leather goods and accessories. One of them would be Roger Vivier, which was steered to great heights by Creative Director Bruno Frisoni, who presented his second last collection for the Parisian label for Spring-Summer 2018. Paying homage to the Joy of Living, the collection includes elegant accessories, shoes and of course bags, 4 of which have truly stolen our hearts.
First up, the Viv’ Cabas, which is identified by its trapezoid shape, clean sharp lines, a single top handle and the iconic Roger Vivier buckle right in front. The Spring-Summer 2018 version sees a seasonal update to the familiar silhouette, with the handle rendered in plexiglass, giving it a nice contrast to the natural raffia canvas body. The leather detailing running down the front of the bag gives the canvas body added character, and is very much inspired by the men’s striped shirt, hence the name Viv’ Shirting Straw Cabas Mini (SGD4680).
Next are the cool boxy bags that are also on trend. The Cigaret Case (SGD3260) is one that can be carried multiple ways such as across the body or over the shoulder, or be worn like jewellery around the neck or a bracelet on the wrist. While they don’t quite hold much, it’s the perfect accessory to take with you on evenings out, thanks to the statement-making Swavroski crystal studded RV letters right in front. The La’Bel Box Clutch (SGD3060), on the other hand, kind of reminds you of a signature red Roger Vivier shoe box, only this time rendered in full acrylic and perfectly sized like a chic clutch.
Last, but by no means least, the Boîte de Jour (SGD6490), which is pretty much an upsized version of the label’s classic Boîte de Nuite clutch. The Boîte de Jour comes with a single top handle, is rendered in a brown leather exterior, and finished off with an RV logo at the corner. Elegant and sophisticated, these bags from Roger Vivier’s Spring-Summer 2018 collection are now available at the label’s only boutique in Ngee Ann City. Joy indeed.
