Butterflies and bees. Besides playing a vital role in the pollination of plants and the production of crops, they have been popping up more and more in fashion in recent years, from luxury powerhouses like Burberry, Gucci and Valentino, just to name a few. Across the Atlantic, American fashion company Coach will be introducing their very own signature butterfly bag in the form of its Swagger, which you can see here resting most beautifully in the crook of Chloë Grace Moretz’s arm, who, by the way, also happens to be the face of Coach’s F/W16 ad campaign.
With each bag holding up to 16 butterfly appliqués, each leather butterfly is first cut out from 2 different types of leather in 4 different sizes, before being hand-painted entirely by hand. Most have a pair of wings, whilst others have two pairs, to give it that illusion of a butterfly in flight, resulting in distinct colours and patterns for each Swagger bag. The butterflies are then attached to the bag via rivets, ensuring nothing accidentally falls off (or flies away, in this case) ensuring years of use if you’re considering getting one.
Priced at SGD995 apiece, the Swagger21 bag will also be launched in Singapore at Coach Wisma Atria this Friday (22 July 2016). In other words, you can do like Chloë this weekend and ‘float like a butterfly’, just don’t be unfairly stung by Khloé, I mean, a bee.
