Yes, Hedi’s out and Anthony’s in. More specifically, it has been announced by YSL that Hedi Slimane has left the French luxury house with Anthony Vaccarello taking over its reigns effective immediately. Which is not really big news anymore considering the sheer number of designers leaving their top posts these days, from Dior’s Raf Simons to Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz.

What’s more important now (well to me, anyway) is what is going to happen to Slimane’s existing creations for YSL, whom, if I remembered correctly cleared out most everything his predecessor left behind when he was replaced him. RTW, bags, shoes and accessories, gone and replaced. And if Vaccarello does the same thing (and that’s a big if), it does mean that for fans of Hedi’s YSL, it is in your best interest to start shopping now before everything’s well and truly gone.

Take, for example, one of the more popular bags introduced during Hedi’s reign, the Classic Sac De Jour. First criticised for being a poor copy of that famous bag, it has since found fans who swear by its modern aesthetic and great functionality. Available in a variety of sizes, today’s post is focused on the tiniest of them all, the Nano Classic Sac De Jour.

Measuring just 22 cm by 18 cm by 11 cm, the one for this season features embossed python in a Black/White combination that while isn’t for everyone, is certainly one of those bags I would consider a stand-out piece based on its head-turning looks alone. Priced at SGD2950, you can get this or any of the others that come in decidedly more classic finishes like smooth and grained calfskin at Saint Laurent boutiques in ION Orchard or Marina Bay Sands.

So where is Hedi Slimane headed, you ask? Well, some say Dior, others say Chanel where he’ll start in menswear first before taking over eventually when Karl Lagerfeld retires. Who knows?
