Louis Vuitton’s beloved mascot returns to the jewellery box this November with three new creations. The latest additions to the Vivienne jewellery collection are bold, precious and full of personality. Each piece converts from a pendant into a brooch, inspired by a tradition of convertible jewellery. The trio also stays true to the character’s origins at the maison.
First appearing in 2017, her name is a clever nod to VVN, shorthand for the natural cowhide leather on Louis Vuitton’s classic trunks. What started as a decorative accent quickly took on a life of its own. Since then, the character has popped up as bag charms and adorned ready-to-wear and Monogram Canvas bags. By 2020, she made her leap into fine jewellery, sprouting from the Monogram Flower with diamond eyes and articulated limbs.
Louis Vuitton gives each of the three new Vivienne jewellery pieces its own symbolic world. Firstly, Vivienne Heart is the trio’s romantic. Her gold trousers feature rose engravings, and she holds an envelope sealed with a heart-shaped lacquer drop.
Vivienne Four-Leaf, by contrast, symbolises luck, prosperity and protection. Four malachite petals frame her diamond-set face, their deep green recalling a clover leaf. A tiny ladybug in red lacquer and gold perches on one petal. The figure also hides two secrets: a playing card in her back pocket and a horseshoe engraved beneath her feet.
Lastly, Vivienne Stars brings maximum sparkle to the lineup. Louis Vuitton sets her in a gradient pavé of round diamonds and moonstones. Alongside them sit 106 pink, violet and blue sapphires, together with rose spinels. The piece marks a particularly major milestone for the line. For the first time, a Vivienne figure wears an LV Monogram Star-cut diamond.
Altogether, the trio offers a fresh take on the Vivienne jewellery collection. Each piece shifts seamlessly from statement necklace to standalone brooch. In doing so, Louis Vuitton bridges traditional jewellery-making and personal expression. It is a fitting next step for a character who has charmed her way from trunk leather to fine jewellery.
