Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines collabs works on a simple premise: hand an artist the Capucines bag as a blank canvas. Each collaborator then puts their own spin on it. This year, the maison taps into Keith Haring, whose bold outlines and dancing figures translate to a global shorthand for joy. Artycapucines VIII is a 13-piece collection that channels 1980s street art energy through the most intricate craftsmanship yet.
Louis Vuitton collaborated closely with the Keith Haring Foundation, extending a creative dialogue that began in early 2026. Haring’s imagery featured across looks in Nicolas Ghesquière’s cruise 2027 womenswear show, held at the Frick Collection in New York. His work is graphic and immediate, built for legibility at a glance. That marks a very different starting point from previous layered, rather painterly commissions.
Amongst the standouts in Artycapucines VIII are two iconic Haring artworks from 1984. Firstly, the Minaudière Capucines Nano Running Heart renders the famous motif in hand-set crystal. Over 12,000 strass stones cover the silver-tone metal shell, tracing the heart in red and black. For the equally labour-intensive Capucines East-West Mini Maze, Louis Vuitton artisans rebuilt the swirling pattern entirely in beadwork. Each requires roughly 240 hours of needlework and crochet, mounted over a padded structure so the design reads with real dimension.

The Capucines BB Holiday reworks a scene of dolphins and swimmers from a 1983 series Haring drew in Naples. Artisans recreated the composition through leather marquetry, with inlays of ostrich and karung skin. The Capucines MM Genesis and its companion Valisette Genesis then take a more personal angle. Both draw from a real 1930s Louis Vuitton suitcase belonging to one of Haring’s New York roommates.

Of course, the maison needs to show off new production techniques as well. For example, the Capucines Mini Dancers uses high-frequency embossing to give Haring’s ballet-dancer linework a raised, sculptural quality on white calfskin. The Capucines MM Soft Figures, meanwhile, translates a 1989 painting into woven embroidery on cotton canvas.
Playful details round out the Artycapucines VIII collection. The Capucines Mini Symbols turns Haring’s characters into enamel pendants dangling from a charm bracelet-style chain from a bag’s handle. The Capucines BB Figures also introduces a rainbow chain of dancing figures in tribute to the Pride flag and nightlife that shaped much of the artist’s work.

Even the Nano Capucines Dancer Hug carries a story: its clasp shapes the figure’s body into the ‘L’ and curls around the ‘V’ in gold-tone metal with enamel detailing. Rounding out the collection is the Noodle Box New York City. While unrelated to the Capucines, it is nonetheless a clear ode to both Haring and Louis Vuitton craftsmanship.
The limited-edition Keith Haring Artycapucines VIII collection joins a roster spanning more than 50 artist collaborations since the programme launched in 2019. It’s time to mark your calendars, because it arrives in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide from 1 January 2027.
