Apple is finally entering the foldable arena with the iPhone Duo. Fans in Singapore will have to wait a little longer, though, since pre-orders only open on 16 October 2026. The device pairs a large inner display with a compact outer screen. It also introduces a version of iOS tailored for a dual-screen experience. Let’s unfold 10 things that set it apart from the rest of the iPhone lineup.

- The 5.4-inch outer display handles quick, one-handed tasks with ease. But the real magic happens when you unfold it. This reveals a sizeable 7.6-inch screen, which comfortably outpaces the Pro Max. Both screens share the same aspect ratio, so apps and video resize seamlessly when you flip the iPhone Duo open.

- Apple applies a matte, nano-texture coating on the inner screen to cut down on glare. It simultaneously makes the fold line far less visible. The result is a smoother surface for games and movies. It even hides the under-display FaceTime camera until you actually need it.

- Build quality sits at the top of the range, of course. The iPhone Duo’s frame uses polished grade five titanium. Ceramic Shield protects the back, while the upgraded Ceramic Shield 2 on the front offers three times better scratch resistance. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

- The dual-screen design also unlocks camera features no standard iPhone offers. Firstly, Duo Preview shows a live feed on the outer display so subjects can check their framing. Kid Cue plays animations to grab children’s attention, while Smart Take automatically fires the shutter when it detects everyone posing.

- With the inner display open, users can finally run two apps side by side. This feature is possible for the first time on an iPhone. Updated Split View multitasking also lets you swap between apps or open two instances of the same app at once.

- The iPhone Duo adopts a dual-battery system. Expect up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer screen, or up to 31 hours on the inner display. Under the hood sits the same A20 Pro chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. To optimise this, a custom vapour chamber keeps things cool.

- Need a quick battery boost before heading out? Fast wired charging reaches 50 percent in roughly 20 minutes with a 60W USB-C adapter. Alternatively, a MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charger hits the same mark in about 30 minutes.

- Both displays feature ProMotion, Always On and 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Set the iPhone Duo down and it enters standby mode, converting into a customisable hub for photos, widgets and clocks. New calendar and weather faces join the lineup, along with additional customisable colours and fonts.

- Later this year, the iPhone Duo will support Apple Pencil with USB-C for notes, sketches and mark-ups on either display. But for now, new accessories include the iPhone Duo Folio, which features an integrated kickstand reminiscent of a super Mini iPad.

- In Singapore, prices for the iPhone Duo start at SGD3099. It arrives in two colourways: Star White and Night Sky. Pre-orders open on 16 October 2026, before the full global rollout a week later from 23 October.
