Some bags borrow from architecture. The Speedy Trunk 20 in Monogram Epic borrows from armour. Unveiled as part of Louis Vuitton’s cruise 2026 collection, the bag is Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest exercise in collapsing eras. He takes the brand’s most democratic silhouette and fuses it with a burnished surface inspired by medieval armour.

The trunk fit right in on the cruise 2026 runway, pairing with a richly worked metallic-and-knit ensemble. Recent campaign imagery extends the story further, shot against sun-bleached stone amongst rounded columns and shadowed archways. It certainly won’t look out of place in a desert fortress.

Structurally, the Speedy Trunk 20 delivers exactly what its name promises. It takes the Speedy’s proportions and rebuilds them with rigid trunk elements. The reinforced metal corners, for example, look like they belong on a hard-sided case. Meanwhile, the body features Monogram Epic, a calfskin embossed with the LV monogram in deep, dimensional relief. The effect reads less polished logo-mania and more hammered shield.

Bold metallic hardware carries the same logic, complete with a deliberately tarnished, oxidised patina. That weathered finish extends to the signature S-lock closure and metallic corners alike. Despite the fortress-like exterior, however, the bag remains wearable. Two top handles allow hand-carrying, while an adjustable, removable strap offers styling alternatives.

Inside, a quilted cowhide-leather lining houses a single main compartment with no unnecessary subdivisions, just one clean space for essentials. At 21 cm by 15 cm, the Speedy Trunk 20 suits daily carry, especially for those who like to make a statement. Priced at SGD20,300, this is no ordinary Speedy, but rather, the Speedy Trunk 20 in Monogram Epic, no less.
