As the season gathers pace, Louis Vuitton revisits its Buttersoft Sneaker with renewed intent. Reimagined through a collaboration with house ambassador, j-hope of BTS, the update introduces a subtle shift in tempo. In doing so, it brings the maison closer to the rhythm of contemporary streetwear.
Originally introduced in the fall-winter 2025 collection under menswear creative director Pharrell Williams, the design blends dandyism with streetwear ease. Its 2000s-inspired silhouette fuses refined leather craftsmanship with the comfort of a running shoe. The name, a nod to its buttery-soft leather, reflects a commitment to tactile luxury, further elevated through 1960s sportswear cues and rich, wearable colourways.
Gently recalibrated, the Louis Vuitton x j-hope LV Buttersoft Sneaker first emerged as a custom companion for j-hope’s world tour, with comfort and movement guiding its details. It arrives in vivid rose suede, a hue that channels the K-pop star’s warm, expressive energy. Tonal consistency flows from the upper through to the springy rubber outsole, while white accents sharpen the silhouette.
Finished with hand-stitched and hand-painted elements, the sneaker showcases the LV logo along the side. A textile label, inspired by the Speedy P9 bag, also sits neatly beneath the tongue. On the exterior, a leather patch embossed with the capsule’s logomark combines the Louis Vuitton Paris signature with j-hope’s autograph.
Leather enchapes at the heel and toe echo detailing from the maison’s heritage trunks. Hiding beneath the heel’s enchape, however, are secret squirrel and acorn motifs, an Easter egg for fans in the know. Meanwhile, wide woven laces printed with ‘Your, My Hope’ reference the artiste’s stage name and optimistic outlook. A decorative Monogram cloche-clé completes the design with a final flourish.
While the Louis Vuitton x j-hope LV Buttersoft Sneaker launches globally on 30 April 2026, anticipation is already building. The K-pop superstar recently offered an early glimpse during an appearance at Seoul Airport, signalling the imminent arrival of this highly anticipated drop. Who’s excited?
