Milano Design Week 2026, running from 20 to 26 April, once again transforms Milan into a global stage for design. Here, hundreds of creatives present everything from furniture innovations to immersive installations. Amongst the standout moments this year is the unveiling of Fendi’s Baguette 26424 Re-Editions.

First introduced in 1997, the Baguette remains one of fashion’s most recognisable silhouettes. Defined by its compact, under-the-arm shape, it draws inspiration from the effortless tuck of a French loaf. Hence, the bag feels playful, slightly subversive and endlessly adaptable. Over time, it firmly earned its place as the original It-bag.

Now, nearly three decades on, Fendi reimagines its signature with the Baguette 26424 Re-Edition. The updated design features a softer construction and elongated straps, enhancing its wearability. At the same time, it celebrates personality as a pure and free expression of beauty. To that end, chief creative officer Maria Grazia Chiuri revisits the icon through 20 distinct designs, each marked by special metal tags.

Launching with the fall-winter 2026 collection, the lineup also includes six Milan exclusives. Craft and creativity, meanwhile, remain central to the style’s enduring appeal. A mix of materials, alongside sequins, beads and mirror embellishments, transforms each piece into a tactile canvas. These are realised through intricate embroidery techniques such as Aari work and Zardozi.

The packaging, too, warrants attention. Bespoke wooden crates, finished with stencil prints and fastened with a yellow canvas belt, recall art transport cases that open to reveal masterpieces. Following Milan, Fendi’s Baguette 26424 Re-Editions will arrive at New York 57 and Shanghai IFC, where dedicated pop-ins offer a closer look.
