Matthieu Blazy sent his debut Chanel collection down a mirrored runway beneath glowing, suspended orbs at the Grand Palais last October. From the outset, this celestial set design sets the tone for Chanel’s spring summer 2026 evening bags. In particular, four standout pieces anchor a narrative that’s out of this world, whether attending a dinner, a premiere or simply living an extraordinary life.

Firstly, the minaudière arrives as a deep midnight-blue sphere, scattered with strass constellation details and secured with a CC kiss-lock clasp. Measuring just over 18 cm across, it holds precisely what an evening requires. Think card, keys and a travel-sized lipstick. Meanwhile, a leather-interlaced chain strap allows for crossbody wear. When not in use, a gold-tone tripod globe stand elevates it into a treasured objet d’art.

Next, a second interpretation of the globe takes shape as an elegant oval clutch, but without the display stand. Designed for hand carry or worn via a leather-interlaced chain strap, it retains the same deep blue constellation motif. It moves easily with the wearer, encapsulating the same sense of wonder in a more streamlined, wearable silhouette.

Besides the constellation pieces, the egg-shaped evening bag lands a playful punchline with gravitas. Crafted from pearly white resin, it perches atop a pair of abstract gold-tone ostrich legs. Undoubtedly one of Chanel’s most surrealist creations, it challenges convention with intent. The elongated, slightly absurd legs double as a whimsical display stand and a conceptual provocation.

Finally, there is the 2.55. More than 70 years on, it remains one of the most influential handbags ever. Over time, it has taken countless forms, from denim to tweed, python to papier-mâché. Here, Blazy delivers one of its most audacious iterations yet. The evening bag features the iconic quilted diamond motif pressed directly into a ‘crushed’ gold-tone metal body, complete with a Mademoiselle lock and a fine chain strap. Despite its 12.5 cm by 11 cm proportions, it commands undeniable presence.

For spring-summer 2026, Matthieu Blazy has created beautiful objets d’art that are small enough to hold in one hand. As these evening minaudières are exclusive pieces, prices (and availability, of course) are only available upon request at Chanel.
