Louis Vuitton's iconic monogram has been graffiti-ed by Stephen Sprouse, polka-dotted by Yayoi Kusama and reshaped across eras by Marc Jacobs, Virgil Abloh and current creative directors, Nicolas Ghesquière and Pharrell Williams. Now, for its 130th year, the maison looks inward. Three anniversary capsule collections arrive, each offering a fresh yet faithful reinterpretation of the emblematic monogram.
The Monogram Origine collection is the most romantic of the trio. The use of a linen-and-cotton blend recalls the ‘OG’ woven jacquard iteration, but now finished with a satiny, resin-like sheen. Pastel shades like Bleu Courrier, Rose Ruban and Vert Asnières soften the motif into a watercolour-like expression. Each piece features an exclusive anniversary tag that also functions as a cardholder.

The collection spans SLGs and bags alike. Highlights include the card holder (SGD550), Cosmetic Pouch PM (SGD985) and the Zippy Wallet (SGD1340). On the bag front, expect favourites like the Alma BB (SGD3400), Side Trunk MM (SGD6250) and Speedy Trunk 20 (SGD4800), all in gentle, nostalgic hues.
Then the focus shifts to Louis Vuitton’s iconic vegetable-tanned leather that develops a rich patina over time and wear. Usually reserved for trims and handles, the VVN cowhide now takes centrestage. The unmistakable beige appears on classics like the Alma PM (SGD6600), Neverfull MM (SGD6450) and Noé (POA). A special anniversary tag and interior patch inscribed with ‘Louis Vuitton Paris’ completes each.

Revisiting Nicolas Ghesquière’s trompe-l’œil mastery, the Time Trunk collection uses high-definition printing to transform soft canvas into archival illusion. Each bag mirrors a 19th-century wood-and-metal trunk, but feels unmistakably modern in hand. Highlights bearing this exclusive trompe-l’œil print include the oversized Alma GM (SGD5900), measuring 39 cm by 30 cm, alongside the Speedy Soft 30 (SGD5950).
Besides the three capsule collections, a vibrant surprise completes the Monogram’s 130th anniversary celebration. Takashi Murakami’s Multicolore returns in a bold re-edition, injecting a welcome hit of colour and nostalgia. The entire collection is now available in Singapore boutiques, with a curated selection also available at Louis Vuitton’s online store.
