Welcome to #BEBEinsider, a series where friends share what beauty products they’re really loving. For October 2025, Najwa Jumali, curator/founder of the much-loved vintage homeware store Objects, shares five of her favourite beauty products.

01 - Aesop Hwyl Eau de Parfum, SGD215 for 50 ML
“One fine day, a smell filled the room and lingered on for a while after my partner spritzed on his fragrance. When I walked in later on, it enveloped and welcomed me. I texted him, asking, ‘What’s that smell?’ and the rest is history.

My partner currently owns three Aesop fragrances and I steal them from him quite frequently, the Hwyl perfume especially. I spray them on my pulse points, focusing on my inner wrists and behind my ears.” AESOP

02 - Dr.Althea Pure Grinding Cleansing Balm, SGD32.90 for 50 ML
“My younger sister introduced this to me, as is true with a lot of skincare and makeup that I use. This is super effective at removing makeup and doesn’t sting my eyes. One of the reasons I never used to like wearing makeup was because the removal was such a process. But that was due to the ineffective products I used previously.

Since I got this makeup remover, it’s not a chore anymore. I apply it on my dry face first. The warmer your hands, the faster the product activates. After rubbing it in for a bit, I add a little water to emulsify before rinsing it off.” DR.ALTHEA

03 - Glossier Cloud Paint, SGD38 for 10 ML
“Glossier was quite hyped some time back, so I got in on the hype with my best friend. We joined a group order some random person organised on Carousell and got this liquid blusher. This was in 2017! It comes in many different shades, and I don’t know about the experiences of others, but I feel that every colour blends seamlessly and suits my skin tone.

For this, truly, a little goes a long way. I’m still using the same tube from three years ago. It’s bad, I know. Aside from my cheeks, I like to put a little on my nose and chin as well.” GLOSSIER

04 - Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion, SGD28.20 for 170 ML
“I didn’t know this was a brightening lotion until I researched its name for this interview! The words are in Japanese and I never really bothered to translate it. I first tried this when I got a free sample in a hotel in Japan, and was immediately sold. It really hydrates my skin without being too heavy. I generally do not like anything on my face, so the fact that this is super light encourages me to use it more often.

Ideally, you would use a cotton pad to apply it since it’s so watery. For me, I put the product directly on my clean hands and quite literally slap it on my face. I feel like the cotton pad would soak up a lot of it and that feels like such a waste!” HADA LABO

05 - Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Airy SPF50+/PA+++, SGD100
“I’m one of those serial testers at Sephora. One day, I got curious about Sulwhasoo, a brand I never really explored because I thought my skin tone would be too dark for it. Somehow, the shade 25N1 worked on my skin. It was a wonderful revelation!

The formula is buildable, so I apply one layer first and build up depending on the look I am going for. I also love the packaging that’s adorned with a gorgeous mother-of-pearl Sulwhasoo logo.” SULWHASOO
