Laurent Ferrier’s Sport Auto wasn’t just born from a design board. Instead, the timepiece is a tribute to the brand founders’, Laurent Ferrier and François Servanin, passion for motorsport. Its 2022 launch marked a pivotal moment for the independent watchmaker, blending a contemporary, sporty aesthetic with the brand’s core values of ergonomic design and exquisite craftsmanship.
This year, exciting but subtle refinements to the OG model leads to the new Sport Auto Blue. The 41.5 MM case crafted from Grade 5 titanium features rounded curves that evoke the aerodynamism of a race car. The ergonomic design ensures it sits comfortably on the wrist for everyday wear.
Ultimately, however, it is the captivating multi-shade opaline blue dial that stands out. The domed sapphire crystal also provides a panoramic view, displaying white gold drop-shaped hands and indexes illuminated by green Super-LumiNova for precise time-telling. A circular satin-brushed bezel, mirror-polished flanks and a vertical satin-brushed middle case complete the look.
Beneath the Sport Auto Blue’s meticulously designed exterior lies the brand-new automatic calibre LF 270.01. This integrates the brand’s natural escapement heritage with a more robust, sports-oriented Swiss lever escapement. A testament to Laurent Ferrier’s independent manufacturing capabilities, the movement is entirely conceived, assembled and adjusted in-house.
Notably, it features an off-centre micro-rotor with a 950 platinum oscillating weight positioned for ideal stability and winding power. It further incorporates a unidirectional ball bearing for enhanced shock and vibration resistance. The timepiece also boasts a power reserve of over 72 hours, all crucial attributes for a sports watch.
In Singapore, Laurent Ferrier’s Sport Auto Blue is available at Sincere Fine Watches boutiques in Marina Bay Sands, Suntec City and Takashimaya Shopping Centre.
