Whether she’s swinging on bags or starring in unboxing videos, chances are you’ve already met Labubu. And if not, you’re in for a delightful deep dive. Created in 2015 by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung, Labubu debuted as part of the illustrated story series The Monsters.
Inspired by Nordic mythology, the series features a quirky monster tribe. Characters include Zimomo, Tycoco, Spooky, Pato, and of course the breakout star herself. While often mistaken for a mischievous rabbit, Labubu is actually an elf. And according to Lung’s original lore, she is a girl. With high pointed ears, tiny, serrated teeth and a cheeky grin, Labubu is now a cultural icon and collector’s obsession.
The character’s appeal heightened after Lung partnered with toy company Pop Mart in 2019. Known for its blind box format, where the contents of your purchase remain a mystery until you unbox it, Pop Mart propelled Labubu into a new era of collectible culture. And when Blackpink’s Lisa was spotted accessorising her designer bags with those quirky plush pendants, it was official. Labubu was now a statement accessory.
Since then, Labubu has appeared in many viral variations, like the coveted plush pendant charms. The first was the major blind box series from October 2023, The Monsters – Tasty Macarons Vinyl Face Blind Box (V1) in sweet pastel hues. V2, The Monsters – Have A Seat Vinyl Plush Blind Box, soon followed in July 2024.
Then in October 2024, Labubu entered high fashion in a standout collaboration with Chinese contemporary label Pronounce. While for the 2024 holiday season, a capsule with Coca-Cola saw Labubu heading to the slopes for the winter months.
More recently, we saw The Monsters Big Into Energy Series – Vinyl Plush Pendant Blind Box. Launching in April 2025, V3 brought an electrifying new dimension to the popular character.
Beyond pendants, Pop Mart also offers larger Labubu dolls with articulated limbs. Donning full outfits, they are perfect for collectors who love display-worthy pieces. Standouts include The Monsters – Flip With Me Vinyl Plush Doll, The Monsters – Fall In Wind Series, and The Monsters – Angel In Clouds Vinyl Face Doll.
Most Labubu editions sell out within minutes and remain elusive. However, savvy collectors can find restocks on Pop Mart Singapore Official's TikTok shop, especially during livestream drops. Alongside blind box figurines and accessories like badges, bags, and phone cases, several in-demand Labubus have also recently been restocked.
Depending on the time of day, you’ll be able to cart out sought-after plush pendants like V1, V2, The Monsters Labubu x Pronounce – Wings of Fortune Vinyl Plush, and Pop Mart The Monsters Coca-Cola Series Vinyl Plush Blind Box. Collectors will also be happy to know that the larger collector dolls have also been restocked, so you know where to look if you’re still hunting for one.
