Rolex is a name synonymous with timepieces counting the likes of the Day-Date and Daytona. Now, with the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller, it signals a subtle yet profound shift on the horological landscape.
One of Rolex’s most forward-thinking creations in recent years, it is powered by the Calibre 7135 (an evolution of Calibre 7140), a high-frequency movement developed and manufactured entirely in-house.

Rolex already commanded the waves with the Sea-Dweller and conquered the skies with the Sky-Dweller. Both are icons in their own right that have fostered a collective imagination steeped in everyday adventures. Their newest counterpart, however, feels different.
For one thing, the Land-Dweller, in either 36 MM or 40 MM sizes, introduces the Flat Jubilee bracelet. An amalgamation of polished and technical satin-finished narrow links that integrate perfectly with the Oyster case, the bracelet carries a visual contrast that’s unexpected yet refreshing at once.
Aside from the unique honeycomb motif etched using a femtosecond laser, the new offering’s dial is equally compelling. To begin with, numerals six and nine pay homage to predecessors the Explorer and Air-King. The cyclops lens over the date window at three o’clock also gives it a sporty touch for a well-rounded vibe.
Another impressive feature of the new Calibre 7135 lies in the patented Dynapulse escapement. This new movement makes the Land-Dweller 20 percent thinner than the Datejust models despite a comparable case size. The result is a watch that exudes a quiet confidence as comfortable in a boardroom as it is about town.
There are currently three styles available. Firstly, white Rolesor, which combines Oystersteel and white gold with a fluted bezel and tonal honeycomb dial. Then comes the 18K Everose Gold with 10 baguette-cut diamond hour markers. Lastly, the 950 platinum option featuring the exclusive ice blue honeycomb dial.
Designed for both men and women, prices start at SGD20,500 for the Land-Dweller 36 in white Rolesor.
