Together, ‘1965’ refers to the pivotal year when the OMEGA Speedmaster earned its stripes as NASA’s flight-qualified timepiece. Swatch reinterprets this historic anchor through a lens of whimsical functionality, in a deliberate departure from traditional chronograph readings. More than a marketing gimmick, it points to the enduring allure of horological history and collaborative design.
Extra details in the MoonSwatch 1965 further amplify this sense of playful reverence. These include the glowing numerals under UV light, the subtle moon image on the battery cover and the OMEGA x Swatch branding. Of course, the Bioceramic construction, etched ‘S’ on the glass and the Super-LumiNova®️ are all hallmarks of the MoonSwatch.
A bold stroke and a reminder that even the most established traditions are ripe for reinterpretation, the MoonSwatch 1965 comes in a single colour and size (42 mm in grey Bioceramic) in this upcoming non-limited release. Priced at SGD380, the MoonSwatch 1965 launches on 1 March 2025. Note that each person can only purchase one piece per day, per store.
