Known for its leather creations, Polène Paris is ever mindful of the noble nature of its lead material. So much so that the French leather goods label has a line of accessories especially dedicated to upcycling leather offcuts. Produced from the carving of its bags, the latest rendition is the exclusive Numéro Neuf Mini Wilo.

Part of the Plèi collection that celebrates circular creativity, it’s another example of how Polène combines the re-use of leather with artisanship. Since the initiative’s inception, Polène has transformed leather extras into all manner of items. Examples include AirPods cases, vases, decorative flowers and, of course, bags.

This brings us back to the Plèi collection’s latest addition, the exclusive Numéro Neuf Mini Wilo. The upcycling initiative audaciously camouflages the organic design of the signature Numéro Neuf Mini. Inspired by the shape of the willow tree, the special creation features soft, looped fringes on its exterior.

Over the course of over 10 hours, artisans in Ubrique, Spain sew on 176 strands of leather offcuts by hand. Besides adding a lush texture, the fringes also offer a quaint flutter with your every step. Carry the 17 cm by 26 cm by 16.5 cm creation either via its top handles or attach the adjustable shoulder strap for shoulder or crossbody wear.

The exclusive design is limited to just 300 pieces worldwide and comes in three colour choices: Black, Chalk and Taupe. Priced at USD860, the Numéro Neuf Mini Wilo is now available online via Polène’s e-store.
