A Glimpse of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Art de Vivre is running from now to 23 March 2025. Les Jardin Secrets, a hideaway within the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique at Raffles Singapore, is showcasing pieces from its patrimonial collection, alongside archival documents that illustrate its savoir-faire and inspirations.

There, you can explore a carefully curated display of jewellery, timepieces, precious objects and accessories. They provide fascinating insight into the daily lives of their owners since the maison’s founding in 1906. More unusual commissions include a paper knife made of gold and crabwood, a perfume bottle and retractable champagne swizzle.

Another selection of standout pieces in black and white. Dating back to the 1910s, they were achieved by combining platinum, diamonds and onyx. The duotone ornaments range from a pin from 1918 and an evening bag from 1929, to a hybrid Label Watch from 1922 that is both a timepiece and brooch.

An assortment of items in mirror-polished yellow gold, a material that the maison began working with in the 1920s, are also on display. Take, for example, the Shell Powder Case from 1957 with its textured gadrooned shape. To enhance the gold gleam, it utilised a centuries-old metalworking technique traditionally used for tableware. Those gentle curves then went on to shape rings, earrings and watches.

There’s also a significant selection of minaudière and nécessaires that the couture universe inspired. Highlights include an evening bag from 1971 that features yellow gold woven with diamonds and the Zip Necklace from 1951. Transforming into a bracelet when fully zipped, it features meticulous filigree lacework, glittering bows, ruby ribbons and tassels of precious stones.

Ready to delve into the history of the maison? A Glimpse of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Art de Vivre runs daily from 12 PM to 8 PM at Van Cleef & Arpels at 01-02 Raffles Arcade. Admission is free but do book a slot online before visiting.
