Welcome to #BEBEinsider, a series where friends share what beauty products they’re really loving. For October’s instalment, Krison Sum shares the five skincare products he can’t get enough of. Krison is a social media personality who balances life as a medical student at the National University of Singapore, with his passion for fashion content creation.

01 - Dr. Jart+ Every Sun Day Moisturizing Sun SPF50+/PA++++, SGD25 for 30 ML
“Sunscreen is the most important part of my skincare routine. No matter how many products I use to achieve healthier skin, I feel they are almost wasted without SPF protection. I previously hated using sunscreen because they all either felt too sticky or greasy. But this one, which a friend introduced, is lightweight and smooth.

Always be generous with your sunscreen. I use two full finger lengths of product. It is also moisturising so sometimes I skip my moisturiser, which saves me time in the morning. A tip would be to reapply your sunscreen every six hours or so for full coverage but to be honest, I don’t always remember to do so.” DR. JART

02 - Kiehl’s Micro-Dose Anti-Aging Retinol Serum, SGD115 for 30 ML
“Retinol is one of the key ingredients I turn to for smooth skin. I remember trying this for the first time and waking up to amazingly smooth skin. I haven’t removed this product from my routine since. It is a precise micro-dose formula, so it doesn’t hit my skin too hard like a regular retinol product would.

I use this only at night, usually once every three days. I apply it after my toner and layer a moisturiser after. This order, where I sandwich the retinol serum in between, works best for me.” KIEHL’S

03 - Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, SGD39 for 28 ML
“My pores get easily clogged with oil-based moisturisers and most gel-based ones I’ve tried are too light for adequate hydration. This one I found from Kiehl’s has helped me achieve deep hydration and doesn’t clog my pores, so I really love it.

I like to keep this refrigerated, so it feels cold and super refreshing when I apply it. Kiehl’s also has a focus on sustainability so I recycle my empty jars with them for points that I can use to exchange for products after.” KIEHL’S

04 - La Roche-Posay Effaclar Serum, SGD60.45 for 30 ML
“This was one of the most pivotal products in my skincare journey. Prior to using this serum, I would get breakouts frequently. It was only after I started using this that I saw a significant improvement in my skin. I would even get compliments about the texture of my skin, and it’s largely because of the exfoliating nature of this product.

Again, I layer this between my toner and moisturiser. I find that applying it after my toner causes less irritation as opposed to applying it directly on cleansed skin. I also make sure to moisturise my skin well after as it can be drying. For me, it stings quite a bit when I put it on, but no pain, no gain right?” LA ROCHE-POSAY

05 - Leaders Cosmetics Ceramide Moisturizing Mask, SGD36.90 for 5
“I like to leave my face masks in the fridge, so they feel super cold and refreshing when I put one on. It makes for a nice skin treat especially after a long hot and sweaty day in Singapore. This is hands down one of the best masks I have ever tried because it gives my skin such a deep hydration.” LEADERS COSMETICS
