As creative director, Seán McGirr swiftly made several changes ahead of his debut show, from renaming the house McQueen to reintroducing its OG logo. Equally buzzworthy, his first collection showcases dramatic silhouettes, unexpected textures and playful experimentation. One key piece to look out for is the asymmetric McQueen Sling bag.

Part of the brand’s fall-winter 2024 collection that exemplifies ’rough opulence’, as McGirr calls it, it boasts a sense of theatricality synonymous with McQueen’s aesthetic, while taking on modern streetwear sensibilities. It features a cross-bar buckle engraved with the McQueen logo, a detail that appears repeatedly throughout the entire collection.

Another unique feature is that a single piece of leather is delicately folded and sewn to form its irregular shape. Measuring 20 cm by 16 cm, the holdall opens via a magnetic foldover flap that hides a zip closure. Its spacious suede-lined interior further offers a lush touch whenever you reach for your belongings. Ideal for everyday use, you can carry the McQueen Sling bag either by hand or across the body.

This September, McQueen officially launches the asymmetric McQueen Sling bag in various hues in Singapore at SGD3290. Will it be Black, Oxblood or Tan calfskin leather or White crackle-coated leather for you?
