Craft is the essence of Loewe. After all, the Spanish brand that was founded in 1846 saw its beginnings as a collective craft workshop. As a tribute to its own origin story, it launched the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2016. This aims to illuminate excellence, innovation and artistic merit in modern craft.

Through this project, the Loewe Foundation, together with an expert panel and jury, seek to recognise uniquely talented artisans setting new standards for the future of craft. Interested? Loewe just opened submissions to the 8th edition of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2025. The contest is open to anyone over 18 years of age working in a craft-based profession.

An expert panel comprising of artists, essayists and curators will pick up to 30 submissions. The panel includes 2024’s winner, ceramic artist Andrés Anza, of course. The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid will then exhibit the shortlisted works before the jury selects the winning piece.

The museum will then hold a ceremony in spring 2025 to officially announce the winner. This talented artisan will receive a grant prize of EUR50,000, while two special mentions will each receive EUR5000.

Ready to push the boundaries of craft? Potential candidates may now submit their work at LOEWECRAFTPRIZE.com. The last day for entries is 30 October 2024.
