Bottega Veneta’s design principles have always been deeply rooted in artisanal craft. All its creations reflect this, from a rich tradition of leatherwork to its latest lust-worthy release, a collection of scented candles in one-of-a-kind volcano-glazed ceramic pots.

The made-in-Italy clay jars are a nod to the Italian house’s Venetian origins. Coloured volcanic glaze evokes both the aquatic environment of Venice and the opulent marble of its architecture. This feat took artisans two years of research in order to apply high-temperature volcanic glazes to low-temperature clays.

Using a series of artisanal techniques to apply the volcanic glaze by hand, the craftspeople render every piece unique. In fact, each reusable 9.3 cm by 10 cm pot is clearly a work of art in its own right. You can repurpose them as decorative objects or functional vessels around the home once the candle is burned.

There are three distinctive scents to choose from, each in a colour-coded jar to reflect its olfactory expression. In lush green you’ll find the Raintree Glaze Candle. It blends mellow fig, aromatic thyme and cozy lavender to create a verdant scent brimming with summer warmth.

Next comes the Lantern Glaze Candle in a bold yellow pot. This swirls incense, suede rose and vetiver for a spicy yet smooth suede-like ambience. Lastly, in a vivid red finish, the Redstone Glaze Candle combines plum nectar, tobacco and cedar wood into a rich, leathery scent, complete with amber notes ensuring a comforting, earthy depth.
