Bottega Veneta’s creative director Matthieu Blazy is clearly drawn to the world of books, magazines and newspapers. In 2022, a collaboration with the Strand bookstore saw a capsule collection of bags and accessories displaying Strand’s bold red oval logo. For spring-summer 2024, the Italian fashion house released a limited-edition fanzine across its boutiques and selected bookstores worldwide. It documents Matthieu Blazy’s vision for the season with never-before-seen sketches and images.

This April, Bottega Veneta makes headlines once again by introducing full calfskin leather bags showcasing newspaper prints from 1955. This innovative design combines Bottega Veneta’s reputation for quality craftsmanship with a touch of whimsy. It amplifies Blazy’s love for print media while pushing the boundaries of fashion.

Firstly, the Brown Bag returns in two sizes, with the small (SGD3280) measuring 26 cm by 20 cm. On the other hand, the medium (SGD5040) is slightly wider and taller at 32.5 cm by 32 cm. Taking the shape of a paper tote bag (which explains its name), the vintage newspaper print appears across the entire exterior and interior, right down to the rolled leather top handles.

Then don’t let the Foulard Top Handle (SGD4980) fool you. It deliberately carries folds and creases reminiscent of a silk scarf, but is actually made out of leather. Complete with a unique knot on top, this 35 cm by 31 cm bag is an eye-catching statement maker. You can either tote it in hand or sling it over the shoulder.
