For Spring/Summer 2024, Bottega Veneta embraces the beauty of small marvels and natural wonders through a spectacular show of craftsmanship. “There is a need to reconnect to a primal world of animals, minerals and plants. It’s like collecting seashells – beautiful, meaningful or meaningless,” says creative director Matthieu Blazy. And one certainly worth collecting is the new Clam bag.
Featuring a wide basket silhouette that recalls the shape of the eponymous shellfish, the hand-carry style manages to be both fun and elegant, while being extremely functional. True to the collection’s emphasis on craft and techniques, the signature intrecciato technique shines on this new piece. It cleverly recreates the weave of a wicker bag using supple goulard leather and a unique basketry technique.

Exuding mermaid-worthy chic, the Clam is available in two sizes. The small (SGD9480) measures 50 cm at its widest and 25 cm high with a 15 cm depth. It carries daily essentials, as well as extras like a water bottle or cardigan, without looking overly bulky. Choose from three nature-inspired colours, Fresh Mint, Sea Salt and Tea Leaf.
Alternatively, go big with the spacious 85 cm by 40 cm by 30 cm large (SGD20,700). Currently available in the single Sea Salt hue, it makes a charming companion for a weekend getaway. Or use it on trips to the beach, yoga class, or simply whenever you must carry more.
Both sizes come with a pair of woven top handles for comfortable carry, while interior leather strings on both sides tie up for extra security. Lastly, look within the Clam for a little surprise. You’ll find an additional detachable zip pocket that will be perfect for all those bits and bobs.
