Welcome to #BEBEinsider, a series where friends share what beauty products they’re really loving. For January's instalment, here are five beauty products Salina Chai can’t get enough of. Salina is a fashion content creator, and co-founder of artisanal leather care store Margo & Smith, which recently opened its bag restoration service at 25 Ann Siang Road.
01 - Chanel N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Serum, from SGD177 for 30 ML
“I have eczema and extremely sensitive skin, so once I find something that works, I stick to it. This serum is gentle, lightweight and leaves my skin radiant. Most importantly, it doesn’t dry out areas of my skin that’s affected by eczema.
Even on my wedding day, the only requirement I had for my skin prep was to make sure this serum was applied before anything else went on. For a light day makeup look, I love to mix this with a tinted CC Cream to give my skin an effortless glow.” CHANEL
02 - Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof, SGD40
“I’m a creature of habit. Ever since I fell in love with this long-wear kohl eyeliner in the shade Espresso, I’ve been buying it once a month. That’s how much I use it! I always make sure to have one on hand. I have three of the same eyeliners: one each in my makeup cabinet, work bag and the office.
I’m prone to eye styes and eye irritation but this one is gentle on my eye area. It lasts throughout the day and I also love how I can play around to create different looks. It’s versatile and super easy to use. If I have a day-to-night event, I can easily switch up my eye makeup look from subtle to smokey. I like to create a soft smokey finish by using a flat-tipped brush to gently smudge until I get the desired effect. It’s as easy as that.” CHANEL
03 - Chanel UV Essentiel Global Protection SPF50/PA++++, SGD93 for 30 ML
“Sunscreen is important even when you’re staying indoors as UV rays can pass through windows. I never leave home without applying sunscreen. It just takes a minute and in the long run, it reduces and prevents the appearance of sunspots.
I’m on my 15th bottle of Chanel’s UV Essentiel. It integrates well with my makeup routine and doesn’t clog my pores. People tend to only apply sunscreen on their face and neglect other areas, but I make sure to protect my neck and shoulders as well.” CHANEL
04 - La Mer The Hand Treatment, SGD230 for 100 ML
“My partner was the one who introduced this product to me. He has rough hands due to work and is a frequent user of La Mer's hand cream.
My hands get dry often, especially since I’m usually in air-conditioned spaces. I’m always on the go and sometimes the nature of my work doesn’t allow for multiple hand cream applications. Like when I have to touch bags, just in case it leaves any marks. But The Hand Treatment Cream absorbs easily and leaves my hands moisturised throughout the day, so I don’t have to worry.” LA MER
05 - PMD Clean Facial Cleansing Device, SGD147
“Due to my work schedule, my days are extremely long. When I get back home, I always look forward to a soothing shower and a good facial cleanse. I triple-cleanse daily, starting with makeup remover wipes, then micellar water and lastly this Clean Facial Cleansing Device. Ever since I started doing the triple cleanse, I get fewer breakouts and clogged pores.
A girlfriend of mine raved about the PMD device, so I gave it a try. It reminds me of a toilet brush but it really ensures my face is thoroughly cleansed of makeup and dirt, which is important especially being in the shoe and bag restoration industry and having to wear thicker makeup for photoshoots.” PMD BEAUTY
