After making waves at Art Basel with impressive showings in Basel, Paris and Miami Beach in 2022, Louis Vuitton cemented its status as an official global associate partner of the esteemed art fair. Continuing its commitment to the arts, the French maison designs a special booth at Art Basel Miami Beach for the world premiere of the highly anticipated limited-edition Frank Gehry handbag collection.

In case you didn’t know, Gehry is one of the key collaborators with the maison. In fact, the renowned architect has created numerous designs spanning trunkmaking, perfume bottles, artworks and so much more. This year, he dives back into the world of handbags, expressing his quirky aesthetic on a new line of Capucines bags, while revisiting his iconic Twisted Box Trunk in new materials. Standouts include the Capucines Mini Blossom elevated with resin petals which mimic those on the Frank Gehry x Louis Vuitton perfume bottles. The Capucines MM Floating Fish is another notable wonder. It features precise leather marquetry details that bear similarities to the piscine lamps at the Foundation Louis Vuitton.

Gehry’s architectural influences also translate beautifully into the 3D-printed calfskin Capucines MM Concrete Pockets. The leather exterior gets an avant-garde grey panelling design inspired by concrete. There’s also an exquisite Bear With Us clutch whose design comes from a Frank Gehry sculpture from 2014. It’s an absolute must-have for art and fashion lovers alike. Together, Gehry and Louis Vuitton specially designed a booth at this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach. The play on wood, cardboard and mesh structures is very much in line with the collection’s aesthetic. This not only makes it the perfect showcase for the new handbags. It also shows off collaborations such as the Les Extraits perfume bottles with the accompanying Flaconnier trunk to perfection.
