On the hunt for a different kind of Saint Laurent bag this season? Then keep an eye out for the new 87 quilted lambskin bag. Rather than the typical satchel or bucket bag silhouettes, the 87 is a two-way carryall, thanks to the addition of the cerniera frame.

Italian for ‘hinge’, cerniera refers to the gold-tone detailing around the quilted leather bag. Aside from being decorative, the weight of the cerniera frame lets half of the bag fold downwards, draping elegantly in front like a flap. Otherwise, simply lift the chain upwards to turn the 87 into a larger tote. Its 29 cm by 17 cm frame easily holds an iPad, A5 notebook and plenty of other bits and bobs.
Available in black with diamond-quilted overstitching lambskin, for now, the versatile bag also comes with a detachable leather sling. This lets you wear it over the shoulder or sling it across the body. The YSL Cassandre logo, which features prominently at the base of the bag, peeks through the curved cutout when the flap is down.
Retailing at SGD4570, the two-way 87 from Saint Laurent might be vintage-inspired, but its also stands out from the crowd for being decidedly different.
