It’s no coincidence that French actress Gabrielle Réjane was a key inspiration behind some of Moynat’s most iconic handbags. After all, she was a close friend and muse of Pauline Moynat, with the sleek Réjane created in 1903. Together with the brand’s revival in 2011, Moynat introduced the beloved Gabrielle bag.
Both bags are now considered timeless designs that will remain forever classics at the French fashion house. They continue to evolve with alternative shapes, colours and materials season after season. For example, the Gabrielle Clutch, an elongated format of the original which recently joined the family.

Its curved lines expanding even wider, the Gabrielle Clutch takes on the concave shape of the iconic Limousine Trunk, for which Moynat owns five patents. Measuring 26 cm wide and 16.5 cm high, it also works as a crossbody bag by attaching the adjustable shoulder strap.
Aside from classic colours such as Black and Cannelle (Moynat’s version of a golden brown hue) in full leather, there’s also a new soft canvas rendition. Aside from being a lightweight alternative to its carat calf leather counterparts, this refreshing style also features contrast-colour stitching and palladium-finish hardware for added visual interest.
Handcrafted in France, it comprises a mix of cotton and linen canvas with full-grain cowhide leather trimmings. The interior also comes in full-grain cowhide leather, so the bag will retain its shape even as the canvas softens.
Retailing at SGD6300, the Gabrielle Clutch in Greige Cognac canvas/leather is available at the Moynat Marina Bay Sands boutique, and their online store.
