Since it launched four years ago, Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines collection provided an avenue for international artists to put their creative spin on the Capucines. Named after the Parisian street on which Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854 (Rue Neuve-des-Capucines), the distinctive top-handle bag is an ideal canvas for artistic interpretations.
The annual Artycapucines collection produces limited-edition quantities of each collaborative rendition. This year, Louis Vuitton goes a step further and partners with Sotheby’s for a charity auction. You get the chance to own a one-of-a-kind Artycapucines, with proceeds going to the 22 participating artists’ adopted charities.
The bags on auction are recreations of the original designs, using the same materials and technical expertise from when each first launched. The cherry on the cake that makes this a truly unique acquisition for collectors worldwide? Each Artycapucines will come in its own Louis Vuitton Boîte Chapeau case, complete with the corresponding artist’s autograph.
Great news if you’re in Paris from 1 to 5 July 2023. All 22 bags will be up for public exhibition at Sotheby’s Paris on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Note that online bidding will run from 28 June to 12 July 2023. Save the date if you would like to get your hands on the limited-edition Artycapucines bags with a cause.
