Goyard’s trunks come in all shapes and sizes, each serving a different purpose. Travelling in style? There’s the Palace Suitcase, an icon of the house, complete with wooden rods and bracket corners. Smaller options include the Vendôme Jewellery Case and Joux 6 Watch Case, as well as vanity boxes and even travelling bowls for pets. Most importantly, they all come decked out in the emblematic Goyardine canvas.
Dating back to 1892, the signature dotted pattern forms a triple chevron shape in homage to the letter ‘Y’ in the Goyard family name. Now, meet the newish Dé Trunk Bag which combines the very best of what the French maison has to offer. The heritage trunk-making techniques are evident in its construction, including leather lozines that come together to form the inimitable ‘Y’. Thanks to its chic 12.5 cm by 12.5 cm size, the cubic creation is also quite the perfect minaudière.
Like every Goyard trunk, a single artisan is responsible for the Dé Trunk Bag from start to finish. The trunk-bag opens via two clasps, revealing a full-leather interior showcasing the malletier label stamp. On it, you’ll find the bag’s serial number, crafting date and initials of the artisan. In Singapore, the Dé Trunk Bag is available in limited quantities at SGD9240.
It comes in either Black or Black/Tan, with an accompanying leather wristlet in a complementary colour. The respective palladium- and gold-finish hardware rounds up this unconventional piece, which ticks all the right boxes in terms of form and function.
