The stunning artwork is based on a compass rose mosaic in Christian Dior’s childhood home in Granville. Discover the inspiration behind it and watch how the illustration is transported from the artist’s studio to the Dior leather working atelier.

The composition, which covers the entire perimeter of the Lady Dior, requires a laborious and intricate process to accomplish. In fact, it takes 20 hours of work by the petites mains to magically transpose the illustration onto the leather.
You’ve admired the signature compass rose and flowers, the Sevillian knot and the poetic quote, ‘déploie tes ailes et rêve d’infini’ (spread your wings and dream of infinity). Now see every elaborate detail painstakingly punctured by hand using the leatherwork sbalzo technique for a unique three-dimensional effect.
The result? A dreamlike Lady Dior which measures 24 cm by 20 cm. Priced at SGD9900, the medium Lady Dior in white multi-colour sbalzo calfskin with Rêve d’Infini motif is now available in Dior stores in Singapore. You just need to head down to marvel at the work of art in person.
