Balenciaga knows just how to get you talking about their bags. From ready-to-wear to shoes (hello there, Crocs) as well as accessories, they do an excellent job of creating conversation-starters.

Continuing in the same vein is the new-in Hourglass. It ticks all the boxes for the loudest, most unexpected handbag yet that literally has ‘BALENCIAGA’ written all over it.

Some of you might remember a certain celebrity, who wore a head-to-toe taped-up outfit at Paris Fashion Week. Yes, this is the very handbag that completed her look. Each Hourglass is first crafted in box calfskin before it’s ‘stickered’ in yellow tape with black logo lettering.

For maximum impact, the tape covers everything, from the handles to the exterior, sides, back and even the inner flap. The same yellow tape also wraps around its adjustable and removable crossbody strap throughout. And if that isn’t enough logos for you, the aged-silver B hardware also sees the ‘BALENCIAGA’ text etched along the base.

And while the Small Hourglass is perfect for day-to-night wear, measuring 23 cm wide and 18 cm high, the verdict is still out on whether this particular style makes any sense. Especially when it is retailing for SGD4100.
