A new class of niche fragrance brands have emerged with contemporary blends that gravitate towards uniqueness. Think mood-boosting scents paired with semi-precious stones and Asian-inspired cocktails that marry travel with scent and stories.

Love all things cult and buzzy? Then these three new niche fragrance brands (available via Escentials) are worth getting to know.

01 Maison Crivelli
If you’re all about unique and surprising scents, then this contemporary haute parfumerie brand is one to have on your radar. Founded in 2018 by Thibaud Crivelli, the Paris-based label serves up some of the most captivating blends.

Taking inspiration from his extensive travels, Crivelli spins each transportive scent into an unexpected sensorial encounter. A spritz of Hibiscus Mahajad will have you sipping on a hibiscus infusion in a gemstone market, while Lys Sølaberg presents a night hike on a fjord.

There are 12 evocative perfumes to choose from, including 10 EDPs (SGD369 for 100 ml) and two concentrated Extrait EDPs (SGD401 for 50 ml), available from 20 October 2022.

And while you’re catching a whiff in-store, don’t miss its magical blotters that stay true to the element of surprise. Spritz a perfume on and watch a multicolour macro image of the raw material used in the fragrance reveal itself. MAISON CRIVELLI

02 Maison de L’Asie
What do you get when you marry travel with scent and stories? A modern perfumery brand with diverse and fascinating blends that encapsulate the memories and narratives of countries in Asia. This Singapore-based label fuses the art of classic French perfumery with Asian overtures to tell olfactory stories in chapters.

Its three instalments, each offering a trio of fragrances, cover Nanyang, Bali H’ai and Bangkok. The first is the closest to home, with evocative blends that speak of nostalgia.

Firstly, meet Nanyang, a tea fragrance with white flower and leather notes. Next, Mother X Love that’s an airy and intimate cocktail of white musk and white flowers. Thirdly, Lost Lovers, which pairs the smoothness of sandalwood and amber with smoky elements of vetiver.

Prices range from SGD38 for a discovery set of three 1.5 ml vials to SGD385 for a 100 ml Extrait de Parfum. MAISON DE L’ASIE

03Valeur Absolue
Made in Grasse, creations from this French fragrance brand are more than just perfumes. Created in collaboration with aromachologists, litho therapists, neuroscientists and perfumers, they are feel-good elixirs designed to impart a sense of wellbeing.

The spirited scents combine the joy of perfume-wearing with the beneficial effects of natural ingredients. There are seven mood-enhancing fragrances, each infused with different essential oils and accompanied by a matching semi-precious stone.

To achieve a deeper state of calm, opt for the woody floral Serenitude with notes of sandalwood, creamy flowers and patchouli enriched with amazonite stones. Want to spark joy? Try the floral citrus Joie-Eclat with notes of grapefruit, tuberose, and vetiver paired with citrines.

Ready to channel the right energy? Valeur Absolue will be launching at Escentials in November 2022, at SGD161 for a 100 ml bottle. VALEUR ABSOLUE
