Established trunk-maker Goyard continues expanding its offerings, catering to those who appreciate the intricacies that go into making hard-sided cases.

All the better if the trunk serves a dual purpose beyond acting as a beautiful display piece at home. For instance, the Cassette Trunk Bag, which looks set on becoming a new favourite for all your daily adventures.

Now, when does a trunk also get to be a bag? First, there must be loops on the exterior specifically to allow you to attach an additional shoulder strap or sling. This converts it into a crossbody format that stays close by your side while letting you remain hands-free.

Next, the interior should be roomy enough to hold all your daily essentials. This includes a wallet, several beauty essentials and whatnots that might all come in handy for the everyday.

The Cassette Trunk Bag comes in a single size, measuring 21 cm wide and 15 cm high. Weighing in at 608 g, it’s also surprisingly lightweight for its make. Especially considering it features numerous hardware elements like corner brackets, bottom studs and trunk nails.

The requisite adjustable and removable leather strap is also present. Along with the loops, so you can always switch to the canvas straps for a more comfortable fit.

While Goyardine canvas covers the majority of the Cassette Trunk Bag, it also features Clamecy cowhide leather trimmings and full yellow Corbigny calfskin lining. There are plenty of colours, with prices starting at SGD6040 for the basic offerings in Black and Black/Tan.

Made in France, each unisex Cassette Trunk Bag showcases a Malletier label featuring the serial number and initials of the artisan. The inventor’s plate is also nailed prominently on the exterior, complete with the red Goyard seal and 233 Rue Saint-Honoré address.
