The wait is finally over. Celine has just unveiled fresh information about its first-ever candle collection, which has officially launched in Singapore. Part of its growing Haute Parfumerie range, the candles are conceptualised by Hedi Slimane.
Like the perfumes before them, the candles draw on the creative director’s memories and carry the same addictive, powdery signatures. The chic, black wax candles come in luxe block-tinted black glass vessels that double as décor pieces.
A total of six scents, all with evocative names, will leave you spoilt for choice. Five of them are never-before-sniffed scents: Grands Lys, L’inventaire, Palimpseste, Papiers Froissés and Tambour Noir. From its fragrance collection, the familiar Nightclubbing completes the half dozen.
Not sure where to start? Catch a whiff of the collection’s signature scent, L’inventaire. Encapsulating the spirit of Slimane’s apartment in Saint Germain, it transports you to his private space. Notes of oak, cedar, rockrose and ambergris recalls Versailles parquet lit by parchment lampshades and piles of books.
Another popular choice, Papiers Froissés offers a blend of cedar, fir balsam, blackcurrant bud and cyprus notes. Consider this a nostalgia-evoking homage to the almost lost ritual of writing and correspondence. Enjoy the scent of roses? Palimpseste offers an earthy take on the classic bloom, with accompanying notes of pear, ivy and moss.
And for all you night birds out there, there’s the must-have Nightclubbing. Strike a match and its addictive and decadent blend of galbanum, patchouli, tree moss and vanilla will immerse you in the electric atmosphere of Parisian nights.

Each 240 g candle retails at SGD145, a decent price considering the painstaking creation process the made-to-measure formula involves.
The collection also offers chic candle accessories to complete the home scenting ritual. Look forward to a tan leather holder, travel case in Triomphe canvas, candle snuffer, wick trimmer, matches and candle covers in gold and silver.
