‘Desirable’, ‘majestic’ and ‘regal’ are some words that best describe Cartier’s Panthère. An icon of the French jeweller since 1914, she exudes power and freedom, appearing on all manner of jewellery, lifestyle accessories and most recently, a new line of bags. 

Meet the new Panthère de Cartier Chain Bag, the latest addition to the family, with five things to know before you head down to see the soft-grain leather bags in person.

01 – The key component of the bag is none other than the panther head. The element is designed in collaboration with Cartier’s expert high jewellery sculptors. Doubling up as a clasp, the Panthère is architectural with eleven leather inserts that match the colour of each bag.

02 – The Panthère de Cartier Chain Bag is built with a voluminous silhouette, much like a soft pillow when held by hand. The French jeweller also ensures that there are no sharp edges or visible seams on the bag. Instead, the curvaceous sides fold inwards to create an elegant look all around.

03 – You can carry the bag via the accompanying adjustable sliding chain strap. This comes in gold- or palladium-finish metal, to match the leather. You can wear it across the body for a casual style, letting the leather pad rest comfortably on your shoulder.

04 – Colours are aplenty, ranging from classic shades of beige, black and creamy white to brighter options like navy blue, pale yellow, petrol blue and red. In total, seven different hues to pick from.

05  – Retailing at SGD4250 for the Chain Bag Mini (20 cm by 14 cm) and SGD4700 for the Chain Bag Small (23.5 cm by 16 cm), these new-in bags are all fierce contenders to add difference to your bag collection.
