Hermès Beauty’s newly minted creative director Gregoris Pyrpylis made a stop in Singapore to introduce the maison’s latest collection of effortless complexion enhancers, Plein Air.

During which, the makeup wunderkind shared his expert application tips (brush or fingers?) and tricks for the 5 products in the new range, all of which come in handy to easily ace your base.

01 – You’ve got your hands on the radiance-enhancing Plein Air Complexion Balm SPF30/PA+++ (SGD148) that comes in 12 skin-matching shades, so what’s the best way to apply it? “It is designed to be used with your fingers,” declares Pyrpylis.

Thanks to its innovative texture, the result of a partnership with a Japanese laboratory specialising in the sensory properties of materials, the base blends effortlessly and melts into skin upon contact to impart a natural glow without masking. No brushes or sponges are needed.

02 – Pyrpylis’ application technique is to take a pea-sized amount of the complexion balm, work some onto your fingertips, and dab some product around the face. Then starting at the centre of your face, massage it on like you would with a moisturiser or skincare product. For areas that require a little more coverage, simply dab on a little more product and tap to blend.

03 – The Plein Air collection also includes two refillable compact powders, the Radiant Matte Powder and Radiant Glow Powder (SGD136 each) alongside a face powder brush (SGD203) that’s been specially designed to be used together.

The translucent Radiant Matte Powder can be used to set makeup or mattify shine. For generous application, Pyrpylis recommends rolling the sides of the brush in the powder, tapping the handle gently to shake off any excess, and sweeping it all over the face.

For a more precise application to tone down shine in specific areas, “load just the tip of the brush with the powder and dab it onto areas like the T-zone to cancel out shine while keeping the rest of the skin radiant.”

04 – Similarly, the Radiant Glow Powder can be applied by rolling the sides of the brush in powder and sweeping it all over for added glow and a more hydrated look.

To highlight particular areas, Pyrpylis uses his fingertips. “This allows for more precise application and it’s almost like a creamy highlighter. You can use this on the brow bone, inner corner of the eyes for a well-rested look, bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow.”

05Lastly, the luxurious blotting papers (SGD63) made from a blend of hemp fibres, wood pulp and soft kozo fibres from the mulberry tree, and decorated with airy H logos.

“The sheets can be recycled and are designed to cover larger areas for a simplified gesture.” As Pyrpylis demonstrated, each sheet was large enough to cover areas like the forehead or entire cheek at once. Soak up shine in style by placing the blotting paper across the selected area before running your fingers gently across in a sweeping movement.

The Plein Air collection is now available at Hermès boutiques, their beauty counters within Takashimaya Department Store and TANGS at Tang Plaza, as well as online via Hermès Singapore.
