Take a walk by the La Collection Privée Christian Dior boutique at ION Orchard and you’ll be greeted by stunning animations, both videos and stills, of gorgeous floral sculptures.

The works of art are a collaboration between Dior Parfums and Japanese flower artist Azuma Makoto, who have come together to celebrate their shared passion of flowers and the art of perfume.

Makoto, who heads his haute couture floral studio Jardins des Fleurs, is known for his awe-inspiring installations. He’s shot a bonsai pine into space, frozen blocks of flowers and now, created a series of botanical sculptures inspired by classic fragrances from Christian Dior’s private La Collection Privée perfume collection.

For this collaboration, Makoto has created eight unique floral sculptures, each emblematic of the olfactory universes of Gris Dior, Jasmin des Anges, La Colle Noire, Lucky, Oud Ispahan, Oud Rosewood, Purple Oud and Sakura.

Feast your eyes on Sakura, a subtle, pink coloured universe; La Colle Noire that’s presented as a castle of blooming roses; Lucky that’s all about spring and summer flowers in tones ranging from white to green to reflect the journey of the scent; and Gris Dior that endeavours to symbolise the various emotions the mysterious chypre fragrance kindles, to name a few.

The life cycles of the creations were then captured as both videos and a series of photographs by Makoto’s best friend and long-time collaborator, photographer Shunsuke Shiinoki, as a way to make something ephemeral last forever.

Experience the La Collection Privée X Azuma Makoto animation at the La Collection Privée Christian Dior boutique at ION Orchard from now until the end of May 2022.
