Chanel’s watchmaking novelties are always something to look forward to, and it’s no exception this year simply because of how stunning this special edition looks. Keen to find out more? Here are 5 key facts to know about this shiny (and seriously spectacular) timepiece.

01 – The limited-edition J12 Diamond Tourbillon is designed by Arnaud Chastaingt (the director of Chanel’s Watch Creation Studio) before it’s developed and assembled by the expert watchmakers in their dedicated manufacture at La Chaux-de-Fonds.

02 – It also features the new Caliber 5 (Chanel’s fifth in-house movement), the Flying Tourbillon movement, with the star being the single solitaire diamond located within the Flying Tourbillon cage.
03 – The 65-facet cut stone is truly mesmerising as it follows the rhythm of the movement, and it was an exceptional challenge setting the diamond right in the centre. Of course, this demonstrates the House’s commitment to outstanding savoir-faire, right down to the series of full-black circular bridges on the graphic dial.
04 – A perfect marriage of craftsmanship style, each J12 Flying Tourbillon is further enhanced with diamonds set on the Tourbillon cage and hands.
The back is equally beautiful with the exposed ‘lion’s head’, a symbol of opulence that has grown to become a key motif of Chanel Haute Horlogerie Manufacture movements, and also an homage to Gabrielle Chanel’s astrological sign which was the Leo.
05 – Aside from the one in full matte black ceramic, the J12 Tourbillon Diamond will also come in glossy black ceramic with baguette-cut diamonds affixed on the bezel. Both are limited to just 55 pieces each, which further emphasises their exclusivity, so you know what to do if you would like to get your hands on one. Or perhaps even two.
