New bags are getting the ‘stretch’ as far as Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection is concerned, one of them being the iconic Petite Malle which returns in a chic Petite Malle East West format. The other? It’s none other than the new Swing bag which takes inspiration from another house favourite, the Pochette Metis.
While it’s not very apparent from the get-go, the similarities between the two are more obvious when you take a closer look. Both bags come with a V-shaped flap as well as the shiny S-lock closure, and they are both sold together with a monogram strap that allows for multiple ways of carrying.
The main difference lies in the shape, with the Swing carrying an elongated profile that will still fit everything you need for daily use. Measuring 24 cm wide and 15 cm high, this horizontal design is broader in most aspects, right down to the wide S-lock hardware to match the overall aesthetic and silhouette of the Swing bag.
For Spring-Summer 2022, you can look forward to three colours of the Swing in smooth calfskin leather. There’s Black, Blanc and Hazelnut, all of which are paired with either gold-tone or silver-tone hardware. They each come with an extra top handle and LV Circle charm, though you can always remove them to achieve a minimal (and less fussy) look if you prefer.
Take note that the bags are currently up for pre-order if you order online, priced at SGD4450 each with an estimated shipment date from mid-March 2022. Alternatively, selected colours like Black and Blanc are available at the boutique in Takashimaya Shopping Centre, so you can head down to take a look as well.
