With the iconic Cape Cod celebrating its 30th anniversary last year, the time has come to unveil the new Cape Cod Crépuscule for Watches & Wonder 2022. Working together with an exceptional Swiss micro technical centre, the delicate timepiece features an impressive abstract motif designed by Vietnamese artist Thanh-Phong Lê.

The details are best appreciated up close, thanks to the stunning dial created using silicon wafer by the Neuchâtel-based Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). A single 0.5 mm plate is coated with a thin film of silicon nitride to create an intense blue hue, before it’s exposed to blue light to recreate the beautiful Crépuscule (twilight/dusk) print on the silicon wafer.

Finishing touches include the gold-coating stage along with the removal of unnecessary materials to give it a pristine look. The plate is then shaped to fit perfectly within the Cape Cod watch, before it’s sent to the Hermès Horloger studios where the navy blue calfskin strap (available as a single or double tour) is fixed onto the anchor chain half-links on both sides of the timepiece.

The Cape Cod is given a whole new look thanks to the Crépuscule dial, radiating beautifully in the 29 mm ‘square in a rectangle’ steel case. Other technical aspects include the anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, and the exquisite timepiece is powered by quartz movement for an accurate display.
