Go Big (Or Small) With Longchamp’s Le Pliage Torchon

There’s something oddly familiar about the striped lines on this linen cotton material, and a direct translation of French word torchon is ‘tea towel’, which just confirms it all. Made to resemble the commonly used fabric seen in bistros and cafes across France, it now appears on a new cheeky line of Longchamp bags known as the Le Pliage Torchon.

Looking for an alternative to nylon (and recycled nylon)? This fancy range could very well be it.

Go all out with the Le Pliage Torchon Tote Bag XL (SGD270), an enormous 53 cm by 52 cm when laid flat) style made entirely out of recycled washed linen. The multicoloured stripes at the sides are a nice touch, and Longchamp has thrown in an extra-long Russian leather strap so you can sling this over the shoulder instead of carrying it solely by hand. Perfect for those who love carrying everything but the kitchen sink, don’t you think?

On the other end of the spectrum would be the Le Pliage Torchon Pouch With Handle (SGD115), the smallest of the lot coming in at 17 cm wide and 11 cm high. The single leather handle is a nice touch, and the zip closure running all the way across is great for keeping everything neatly secured. Busy out and about running errands or looking for an eye-catching lunch bag? This would be it.

Whether you love your bags big or small (there are two more in-between sizes, by the way), Longchamp’s series of Le Pliage Torchon bags has something for everyone. Go big with the largest one or enjoy something fun (and wee-sized) with the mini one; the choice is yours.
