Red has always been a colour that’s near and dear to Gabrielle Chanel, and thus regarded as one of the maison’s signature colours, along with beige, black, gold and white.

The provocative hue can be found on RTW jackets, 2.55 handbags and the forever iconic lipstick, a symbol of empowerment and strength for the modern Chanel woman of today.

Red also serves as the highlight of Chanel’s latest timepieces dreamt up by Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the Watchmaking Creation Studio, which are part of the Watches & Wonders 2022 collection that you can find out more about below.

01 – The jaw-dropping selection comprises 3 of Chanel’s iconic Haute Horlogerie creations that all come decked out in the signature colour. Baguette-cut rubies elevate the timepieces even further, and they are only available in limited numbers, making them highly collectible for fans and watch enthusiasts alike.

02 – The J12 X-Ray Red Edition (POA) is the pièce de résistance, crafted entirely (including the bracelet) out of crystal sapphire that results in a see-through display like no other. Numbered and limited to 12 pieces worldwide, this exquisite timepiece is enhanced with 46 baguette-cut rubies on the bezel, along with 12 baguette-cut ruby indicators for maximum effect.

Thanks to the sapphire crystal, the bridges on the in-house Caliber 3.1 Manufacture movement are carefully hidden, but the detailed cogwheels are still visible and worthy of its status as a Haute Horlogerie timepiece from Chanel.

03 – Then there are the Boy-Friend Red Edition timepieces, available in two designs that are slightly different from the other.

The Boy-Friend Skeleton Red Edition (SGD216,500) has an 18K beige gold case set with 38 baguette-cut rubies that’s limited to 10 pieces, while the Boy-Friend Skeleton X-Ray Red Edition (SGD129,900) has a crystal sapphire case and 18K beige gold crown set with 5 baguette-cut rubies, which is limited to 100 pieces.

04 – While the two cases and bezels are noticeably different, both timepieces come with the in-house Caliber 3 Manufacture red skeleton mechanical movement, complemented by a red alligator-embossed calfskin strap finished with a 18K beige gold triple-folding buckle.

05 – The power reserve is approximately 55 hours for all 3 timepieces, so you can wear the gorgeous red editions over Lunar New Year and be set to make a statement.
