Niche fragrance house Byredo has garnered a loyal following with its unique genderless creations that are truly like no other. And with all things Byredo, its latest creation, Mumbai Noise, which offers an olfactory portrait of the city and its rich cultural heritage, diverges from the norm for an unexpected yet pleasant experience.
Inspired by Byredo’s founder and creative director Ben Gorham’s upbringing in Chembur, Mumbai, the EDP is a nostalgic scent that explores the city today, anchored in his fond childhood memories.
The woody and spicy cocktail reflects the crowded contrasts of the city with rich, warm labdanum, sandalwood and agarwood blended with bright plummy davana, alongside an infusion of leather and bitter coffee stirred with sweet tonka beans. This brings sensorial multitudes of smoky incense and burning woods, punctuated with street-side coffee carts and grating soundscapes, to instantly transport you to the streets of Chembur.
Presented in the brand’s uniformed clear glass bottle, topped with a glossy black magnetic cap and complete with a monochrome label, the minimalist vessel brings focus to what’s inside the bottle, and is available in two sizes.
Priced at SGD274 for 50 ml and SGD372 for 100 ml, Mumbai Noise is now available at the Byredo Boutique at Takashimaya Shopping Centre or if you prefer to shop from home, head on over to Escentials to cart out.
