Love a handbag that’s decidedly different? Well, feast your eyes on Balenciaga’s latest run of the Hourglass Top Handle bags which are all constructed from a mix of ‘upcycled’ materials. Think along the lines of denim obtained from jackets and jeans that are arranged to create a one-of-a-kind patchwork pattern, which also means that no bags will ever look the same due to this unique process.

In other words, what you will see in the stores (along with online purchases) will be always be slightly different from the pictures here, although you can get a rough idea of how they look for the ones that come in black or blue. On the left, the Hourglass Top Handle (SGD3090) measures 27 cm wide and 18 cm high, with a black denim patchwork and shiny rhinestones that form a part of the ‘Balenciaga’ text logo. The distressed effect adds to its street cool appeal, a Balenciaga signature under the creative direction of Demna.

The one on the right is the miniature version known as the Hourglass Small Top Handle (SGD2890). At 23 cm by 15 cm, this compact alternative is great for days when you need something smaller and cuter, perfect for keeping SLGs like a slim cardholder along with beauty essentials and a small bottle of hand sanitiser. Both sizes and colours will be sold together with a removable shoulder strap, or you can simply slide your wrist through the wide top handle and carry it as a chic handbag.
