This isn’t new, but definitely something to know. Louis Vuitton surprises once again with an innovative design that combines its trunk-making heritage with state-of-the-art technology, unveiling a beautiful set of speakers crafted out of wood, then finished with leather and matching metallic hardware. Aside from two main colours, there will also be two different sizes up for grabs, the PM and GM size which come with slight tweaks between the two.
The Speaker Trunk PM measures 23.5 cm wide and 17 cm high, sold together with a shoulder strap that converts it into a portable speaker whenever you’re out and about. Of course, no one’s stopping you from keeping it as a small display at home, controlling the speakers remotely via a simple configuration of the buttons on top. For something bigger (and most definitely better), you can always go for the Speaker Trunk GM which comes in at a whopping 36 cm by 24 cm. Possibly one of the biggest speakers you will ever come across, you can also surprise guests at home when they realise it isn’t an actual trunk.
Each Speaker Trunk is sold together with a technical leaflet, which includes instructions on caring for your item, along with the settings for use. You can pair it with your phone or do a plug-and-play for the bigger GM size to yield a sharper sound quality in the comfort of your home. Both the Speaker Trunk PM and Speaker Trunk GM are now available for sale at the Louis Vuitton boutique in Takashimaya Shopping Centre, priced at SGD10,500 and SGD15,200 for the one in the iconic brown monogram. The full black version is priced a tad higher at SGD11,200 and SGD15,600 respectively, with the main difference being the colour and addition of a raised metal grid pattern that’s more tactile to the touch.
