The Panthère de Cartier has truly weathered the test of time, first appearing in the 1980s on Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow and even spotted on male personalities like Keith Richards and Pierce Brosnan. Today, the exceptional timepiece comes in three different sizes comprising the mini (21 mm by 25 mm), small (22 mm by 30 mm) and medium (27 mm by 37 mm), available in a variety of finishes such as the classic steel, along with extravagant pieces made in 18K rose, white and yellow gold.

On first look, the Panthère de Cartier might remind you of a miniature version of the Santos de Cartier, thanks to its square face (with rounded angles) complete with visible rivets all around the bezel. However, look closely at the bracelet and you will realise the key difference that sets them both apart, with the Panthère featuring in an ultra-flexible design that emulates the way the Maison’s emblematic animal moves naturally in the wild.

Other features of the celebrated timepiece include the signature dial that features Roman numerals, along with the iconic ‘rail-track’. Cartier’s logo is also embedded within the ‘X’ numeral to prevent counterfeits and the like, a little known secret that’s not easily noticed as well. The blue-steel hands require an upward of 20 operations, an elaborate process that keeps it from rusting through the use of blue oxidation. This age-old technique is Cartier’s commitment to craftsmanship while staying true to watchmaking traditions, an element prominently found across all the pieces in the Panthère de Cartier family.

The Panthère de Cartier is more than just a watch; it’s also a piece of jewellery thanks to its clean-looking lines and fluid bracelet that wraps beautifully around your wrist. Finished with a seven-sided crown set with a blue spinel (or sapphire for precious versions), this jewel-like addition is the perfect touch to the Panthère de Cartier. Today, prices start from SGD5350 for the mini model in steel, before going up to SGD35,100 for the 18K yellow gold model set with brilliant-cut diamonds.
