Meet Louis Vuitton’s New Bag Of The Season, The Coussin

Much has already been said online regarding Louis Vuitton’s new Spring-Summer 2021 bag-of-the-season, the Coussin that has launched recently in Singapore’s LV boutiques, as well as online via And while its shape might remind one of the now-discontinued Monogram Canvas Sac Coussin from the 90s, this new style by Nicolas Ghesquière isn’t inspired by it; in fact, it’s completely different.

Taking the best elements of what people generally favour today, you could say the new Coussin is an intense amalgamation of all that, and more. From its boxy yet relaxed body that comes in monogram-embossed puffy lambskin, to the dual straps, one a thick jacquard-embossed strap, another, a chunky metal chain-link sling, it certainly packs a visual punch, especially with the vast array of colours it now comes in.

From bright Rouge to stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks Motion Green (essentially a bright lime hue), there are also classic colours like Creme (you know, cream), Black and of course, a metallic Silver for those who like that extra shine. Colours aside, this new bag also comes in 2 sizes, the Coussin PM (SGD4850) that measures some 26 cm by 20 cm, whilst the much larger Coussin MM (SGD5400) comes in at some 34 cm by 24 cm, a hefty size that will suit those who love to bring out everything and their kitchen sink on any given day.

Available now in local boutiques and online, a few of the more popular colours are already out of stock at the moment, no surprise since the-brighter-the-better works best for this particular style. And to give you added ‘value’ for your buck, the bag can be used one of many ways, from removing both slings and using it as a handheld clutch, to choosing either strap for that ‘cleaner’ look. Or just go crazy and use it as it is, one you can wear over the shoulder, across the body or right in front to cover your food baby after that huge dinner. The choice is yours.
