Ok, not exactly, but close enough. Rimowa, the German luggage manufacturer, has officially announced that it will be introducing 2 new limited-edition colours named Mars and Mercury. And while one can’t really travel right now (much less to outer space), these cheeky hues are 2 out-of-this-world reinterpretations, a fresh and vibrant orange (Mars) and a refined medium-grey (Mercury).

New additions to the tone-on-tone Rimowa Original line that currently includes last year’s special additions, Marine and Scarlet, they have undergone a similar anodising process that allows the vibrant colour pigments to be printed deeply onto the aluminium. Both new limited editions will also feature matching tags, handles and locks, right down to the wheels’ housing to ensure that the monochrome look is maintained from top to bottom.

There are slight differences in terms of luggage options between the two. Mars will be available in sizes like Cabin and Trunk Plus, while Mercury will only be released in Cabin and Check-In L. If you need a volume comparison, the Check-In L can store up to 86L which is great for a 10-day trip, while the Trunk Plus is larger in comparison at 105L and best used for a 2-week journey (again, not that anyone here is travelling anytime soon but it is sure good to know, right?).

There’s currently no word on the prices, but you can start bookmarking your calendars for 4 February 2021, as the entire collection will be launching across all 3 Rimowa boutiques (Mandarin Gallery, Marina Bay Sands and Raffles Hotel) in Singapore. Aside from new colours like Mars and Mercury, you can also look forward to the limited-edition space sticker set, as well as the special Year of the Ox hot-stamped luggage tags, which will be available just in time for Chinese New Year.
