If you need any indication that 2021 is getting off to a good start, look no further than Loewe’s highly-anticipated collaboration with Studio Ghibli, a capsule collection that celebrates the Japanese animation house’s signature 1988 film, My Neighbour Totoro.

Enchanting and whimsical are some of the words that best describe the collection, with familiar figures and scenic backdrops (from the film) adapted to adorn a variety of Loewe bags, SLGs and RTW, giving you a pretty comprehensive selection for both him and her. Don’t miss out on the Totoro Family T-Shirt and Totoro Family Hoodie if you’re all for a cheeky twist, but if you’re on the hunt for truly spectacular pieces crafted using Loewe’s signature techniques, go straight for the bags/SLGs that will be launched in Singapore come 8 January 2021.

Leather marquetry is one of the key highlights of this capsule collection, and you will find different colours of leather pieces intricately cut and fitted to make Totoro come alive. Both Totoro and his friends (remember the Dust Bunnies) from the woods can also be found on bags like the Hammock and Puzzle, as well as the Heel which comes in a variety of sizes ranging from the small pouch to the larger bag. There are plenty of cardholders as well, coming in colours like apple green and sky blue, giving a spirited twist to the Spanish luxury house’s concise SLGs.

As with most capsule collections, the Loewe x My Neighbour Totoro will be a limited-edition series that will not be returning once they’re all sold out, so you should head down to the boutiques at ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands and Paragon Shopping Centre first thing come Friday. Selected pieces should also be available online, and you can take a sneak peek of the intricate leather marquetry up on Loewe’s Instagram page now.
